There's a storm brewing. A heat waves chokes out the sun. It won't shine, it won't shine. In the words of the great Otis, I've got dreams to remember. I hate them. I never thought in the winter months that sunshine would be so bleak. It's as if the very condensation that shields our hearts radiates ever growing thermal signatures as well. The oil has spilled and saturated my blood and you sparked the flame. It burns, oh it burns. I've got dreams to remember. BUT SOFT, What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, who is already sick and pale with grief that thou, her maid, art far more fair than she. Why can't my world exist within the realms of Act 2, Scene 2? Colors have desaturated. Good Lord, read a book. I'd rather read the memories of forever after and rewrite the ending. A duplicate has arrived. Perception is a mystery. Leave me alone. Can't do this again. Can't do this again. I have dreams to remember.

Today was my first day back at the skate park. It has literally been

6 to 8 years since I had been there. My old skates are so worn out,

it was a little embarrassing. What was really embarrassing was the

fact that I sucked eggs. Well, that's what I get for taking such a long

break. Jeeze, I felt like a first timer out there. I remember being

13 years old and pulling off stuff 10x as hard as I was today. Shucks,

guess I just gotta get back into it. Definitely need new skates, a new

skate bag, and maybe even a new pair of testicles because not going

to lie, I was a little scared. (I sat in the car for 20 minutes before I

finally grabbed my skates and walked out there, and then I sat on

the edge of the skate park for another 10 minutes) Don't judge me:)

You know, I'm probably one of few 19 year olds (turning

20 in August ok, jeeze) that say things like, "I'm getting to

old for this," or, "I feel like a 40 year old trapped in a kid's

body," or, "What has happened to the youth? Look at these

hooligans." Ok I may be slightly joking if I use the word

"hooligans" but you get the picture. Point is, I feel way

older than I am. But here is the complex part, (you knew

there would be a complex part, it's me) I may feel older,

but I also have a child's heart. Crazy right? When I truly

try to put it into words, it comes out something like this:

I am a 19 year old Steve Urkel who's going on 20, feels 30,

but has the heart of a child. Why did I throw Steve Urkel

in there? Well, because I admire his honesty and his humble

nature. The guy stays true to himself and to what he loves

no matter how much he gets made fun of. That's a lesson

we could all learn from the Urk-Mister. But that's off the

subject. Wait what was the subject? I'm just typing now.

K. I guess I'll end it here. Currently listening to Gibberish

by Ryan Leslie, because that's how I currently feel. I swear

I've gone back to grade school, I'm not smooth in the least

bit. K. Uh.....K. =)

The point I am making is -Positivity-

I know that I have been super negative about "love"

ever since that happened. I figure, it's only hurting

myself to be that negative. What I'm saying is, I am

not going to push something or someone away if my

heart and soul tells me to take a chance. Am I way

I have experiences under my belt that will trigger

my defense system. But instead of

closer. People like that can be

Here is brief History on Valentine's Day:

The story of St. Valentine has two different versions - the Protestant and the Catholic one. Both versions agree upon Saint Valentine being a bishop who held secret marriage ceremonies of soldiers in opposition to Claudius II who had prohibited marriage for young men and was executed by the latter. During the lifetime of Valentine, the golden era of Roman empire had almost come to an end. Lack of quality administrators led to frequent civil strife. Education declined, taxation increased and trade witnessed a very bad time. The Roman empire faced crisis from all sides, from the Gauls, Slavs, Huns, Turks and Mongolians from Northern Europe and Asia. The empire had grown too large to be shielded from external aggression and internal chaos with existing forces. Naturally, more and more capable men were required to to be recruited as soldiers and officers to protect the nation from takeover. When Claudius became the emperor, he felt that married men were more emotionally attached to their families, and thus, will not make good soldiers. He believed that marriage made the men weak. So he issued an edict forbidding marriage to assure quality soldiers.

The ban on marriage was a great shock for the Romans. But they dared not voice their protest against the mighty emperor. The kindly bishop Valentine also realized the injustice of the decree. He saw the trauma of young lovers who gave up all hopes of being united in marriage. He planned to counter the monarch's orders in secrecy. Whenever lovers thought of marrying, they went to Valentine who met them afterwards in a secret place, and joined them in the sacrament of matrimony. And thus he secretly performed many marriages for young lovers. But such things cannot remain hidden for long. It was only a matter of time before Claudius came to know of this "friend of lovers," and had him arrested.

While awaiting his sentence in prison, Valentine was approached by his jailor, Asterius. It was said that Valentine had some saintly abilities and one of them granted him the power to heal people. Asterius had a blind daughter and knowing of the miraculous powers of Valentine he requested the latter to restore the sight of his blind daughter. The Catholic legend has it that Valentine did this through the vehicle of his strong faith, a phenomenon refuted by the Protestant version which agrees otherwise with the Catholic one. Whatever the fact, it appears that Valentine in some way did succeed to help Asterius' blind daughter.

When Claudius II met Valentine, he was said to have been impressed by the dignity and conviction of the latter. However, Valentine refused to agree with the emperor regarding the ban on marriage. It is also said that the emperor tried to convert Valentine to the Roman gods but was unsuccesful in his efforts. Valentine refused to recognize Roman Gods and even attempted to convert the emperor, knowing the consequences fully. This angered Claudius II who gave the order of execution of Valentine.

For me Valentine's Day is amazing. Whether I have

a valentine or not. I believe that if you have no one

single person to pour all your love too, then pour

it out to everyone. Single people should be showing

the most love on valentines day. I know for me, I

had so much fun on valentine's day. So much fun.

I am single, but that didn't stop me from buying

cards and candies and stuffed animals and

everything for people. As long as I made people

happy on that day, then I was happy. I know for a

fact that I brightened up a lot of people's valentine's

days when they would have had a terrible on if I

had not taken the time to show them that I care.

The problem is, my words are not in the form of words. They are in
the form of scattered imaginary bits of light and color that sail
around in my mind. Putting such a beautiful ensemble of pictures
into words is much easier said then done. I came to my blog
hoping to reveal something about myself that cannot be readily
identified. Then I realized, there is not a way to put into words
what I want to say with out actually saying what I want to say.

Wow, and I thought 2008 was bad. I can honestly say that 2009 was the

worst year of my life so far. With the passing away of my hero and all

the other things that happened, this was the most depressing, and stressful

year I've gone through. The only other times I had to deal with this much

sorrow is when my mother was passing away. The fact that she is still here

today is a miracle in itself. Good riddance 2009, screw you, and this will

be the last thing I ever post in this God-awful year.

This man is my hero. I just got done watching "The

Unbeaten Track." Travis does so much for the world.

He has a heart like Michael Jackson does. I look up to

those two so much. I want to travel the world and help

those less fortunate. I have such a passion for that. One

of the main reasons that I want to be successful is so I

can travel and help. I strongly suggest you watch "The

Unbeaten Track," you will be so inspired. If you think

you have it bad, you don't, trust me. You will see kids

on this video that live under bridges, yet they still smile....

They still smile......I want to help them. Remember,

"We are the world, We are the children, We are the

ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving."

Real Talk

Something was just recently brought to my attention.

I am a lot more open in my blog than I am in real life.

It's true. I don't know why, I say things on here that I

would never actually tell someone face to face. I just

feel it as my way of getting it off my chest and not doing

something stupid like I used to. I don't want myself or

anyone else to get hurt so I blog, or I "tweet" or whatever

other internet tool I can find. I just hope that the people

who read my blog can connect to some of the realism.

I write so "real" because I know there are other people

struggling, and you know what, you are not alone. Maybe

if we were all a little more open and honest, then we could

get through this thing called life a little bit easier.

I love these guys.

You know how you hear people say, "Like, oh my gosh, like,

like, they totally so get me, like, they wrote that song for me."

Yeah well, honestly, I feel like I wrote the majority of their

songs. I think its nice to find a band or artist that you can

totally relate too.

To quote Eminem, "...So when I have a shitty day, I drift away,

and put 'em on."

Wow, over the last few weeks I've been cleaning out my

inbox on myspace (I had over 7,000 messages in there,)

and I came across so many old messages from people

throughout the years. Messages dating all the way back

to 2005. I've shed tears, laughs, smiles, so much love.

So many memories, some I would rather forget, others

I would die to relive. It has shown me how far I've come

as a human being, a significant other, a hard worker, and

as a friend. I'm still not even half way through my inbox,

but I want to give a few shout outs to people that have

made quite an impact on me so far.

Karl Flores: Freshman year, Ms. Terisi's english class,

you approached me during an icebreaker and asked me a

question about ice cream. I thought you were WAY to out-

going, actually, I realized I was WAY to shy. Weeks after

that I watched you in a school rally. I was star struck. I

watched you dance in that rally and realized what I wanted

to do with my life. You brought me onto Crunk Village

sophomore year and we have been best friends ever since.

And now, almost 6 years later, things have changed. We're

even closer. Karl, I love you bro. You are always there for

me. ALWAYS. You always know what to say, you always

know how to help. You are strong, intelligent, talented

(sometimes too talented,) and to top it off, you are caring.

We share the same sense of humor, we take jokes way too

far and everyone else thinks were losers for it. I have never

laughed harder with anyone else. Every time we hang out

it is a guaranteed good time, even if we just sit at your kitchen

table and do homework. I thank God for you Karl, I wouldn't

be anything with out you. I love you.

Michelle Behar: You made me strong, you broke me from

my shell, you showed me there was hope. You took a shy,

skinny, unconfident little boy and made him something. I

know we don't talk at all anymore, but I will never forget

how big of an impact you had on my life. You probably won't

even read this but I just want you to know that I am sorry. I

am sorry for all the pain I caused you. I am sorry for the

suffering. I am sorry for the confusion. I am sorry for not

giving you the closure you needed. I am sorry for hurting

you....so sorry. I am sorry for not taking you to prom. I'm

crying as I type this. I apologize and I love you. I am glad

your doing well for yourself. Have fun overseas. Traveling

is one of the best things anyone can do. I know you will

be/ are having the time of your life. Study hard!

Robert Martinez: You are my brother. Bottom line, you

may have noticed that I said Karl was my best friend. That

is because I don't consider you my best friend, I consider

you my blood brother. You are family. You are so close to

my heart, I love you. I know we get into fights and we act

childish, but that's what siblings do! (Starts to pull pant

leg up slowly.....STRIKE THE POSE) We have so many

inside jokes that we have our own language. I don't know

what I would do with out you in my life. You are closer to

me than my actual real blood brother. You share my love

for Michael and Prince and Stevie and Old school and

everything. You are the best MJ dancer I have ever met,

and I love to watch you dance. We have been through so

much and I know that when the going gets tough, you will

ALWAYS be there for me. Always. Vice versa, I always

will be there for you bro, I love you.

Derek Corpus: Derek, you became so close so fast. I

remember we first met on the first day of freshmen year.

In PE. You were so outgoing and I was so shy. I even

would pretend to be tired so I wouldn't have to talk as

much. I was such a loser. After joining Crunk Village our

friendship just took off. And you know what is funny, we

literally have traveled the world together. You were my

go to guy. I knew that if something was wrong, or if I was

hurt, or if the world was exploding, I knew I could go find

Derek and he would make it all better. You don't know

this but you literally saved my life. I had reached a very

suicidal point in my life, and I was talking to you on aim,

freaking out, and something you said stopped me from

making the worst decision anyone could ever make. You

didnt know what you had just done, but thanks you to,

I am still here to this day. I love you Derek, I hate that

your all the way in San Diego. You will always be my

best friend.

Beverly Batzel: Wow, you little, blonde dance goddess.

That pretty much sums you up. You are so talented. I

swear to this day I am still star struck. You always say

that I inspire you. It is quite the opposite, you inspire me.

I don't think I would try so hard at what I do if you didn't

give me that motivation to be better. Bev you are so good

at everything you do, and you could take this world by

storm if you wanted to. I look forward to seeing you

on the dance floor. Always let me know when you have a

show, I don't ever want to miss one. DG is MAF's hero.

There are a few people I didn't want to write in here

because it is to painful. I've hurt so many people in

the past....I want to say that if I've hurt you in any

way I am so genuinely sorry...talk to me about it if you

can...I would love the chance to apologize to you

personally.

Also if I didn't write anything about you and your

thinking "what the heck? I'm one of his best friends

and he didnt write anything about me." I only wrote

about things I have come across in my inbox so far.

I still have to go through about 4,000 messages, so

I will most likely be making another blog post just like

this.

John's new version of "The Jerk." We call it:

bMod held a complimentary workshop for the CPP dorms.
A lot of people came out to dance. Jasmine, Jason, and I
were stricken with allergies but it's all good in the hood.

This is what takes up all my time. Between bMod, school,
the gym, and the little amount of work I get, I barely have
time for anyone. I apologize to all the people that invite
me out everywhere, only to hear me say, "sorry, I have practice,"
or "sorry, I'm at the gym." Etc. Etc. Especially to you baby,
I'm trying to make more time for you. Welp, I am thankful

for the little bit of free time I do have. Who knows, I would

probably be bored out of my mind if I didn't have so much to

do.

Go Figure.

FACT: I love tattoos, and I would be covered in them if I could afford it.

Common Questions:

Do I have to be a student at CalPoly Pomona to join or audition for the team?
-No! Auditions and membership are open to EVERYONE! We do like to keep the team 18+ but if you'll be turning 18 shortly after auditions, that should be fine.

Do I have to attend all days of the audition process?
-While it isn't required, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Missing a single day will severely set you back in the process. Let a bMod member know if you have to miss a day. It is also your own responsibility to catch up on what you missed if you had to be absent for any reason.

What if I'm not a dancer?
-Take the workshops anyway! Dance experience is preferred, but not required. If anything, invite all your friends who you think might want to audition!

If I make the team, when and what time will practices begin?
-Practices will start on the Tuesday following your audition at 7pm. Regular practices for will be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 7pm. Also, if you make the team, there will be a MANDATORY MEETING on Saturday, the 10th in the evening.

I don't think I'll ever forget it. It was my first retreat with

this team, but it won't be my last. I've been on retreats before

but as with every other aspect of this team, it just feels better.
